Microsoft has initiated the rollout of a significant upgrade to its Xbox application on Windows. This enhancement introduces a consolidated library that merges titles from various gaming platforms, including Xbox, Steam, Game Pass, and Battle.net. With this change, users can now locate and launch games through one central interface, eliminating the need to toggle between multiple applications.
The unified game library, currently accessible in preview mode for Xbox Insiders, is scheduled to reach a broader audience by the end of 2024. It also includes support for handheld gaming devices operating on Windows, such as the ASUS ROG Ally. Microsoft has announced plans to extend compatibility to additional digital storefronts in future updates.
Simultaneously, Microsoft is piloting an AI-based feature known as Copilot for Gaming via the Xbox mobile app, now available in beta on Android and iOS. This digital assistant can provide real-time gaming tips, strategic advice, and answers to gameplay-related questions. Users may also receive links to video tutorials based on in-game situations. Microsoft plans to expand Copilot functionality to PCs and portable Windows gaming devices later this year.
Alongside PC updates, Microsoft is implementing changes for console and cloud users. These include more flexibility in home screen personalization, options to pin or conceal titles, and simplified access to previously launched games.
A new Game Hubs feature has been introduced, enabling players to view achievements, statistics, and friends currently active in the same game. Updates to Cloud Gaming infrastructure now offer smoother cross-device transitions and data synchronization indicators to prevent content loss.
Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members in India can now directly redeem in-game bonuses such as characters, skins, and other items through both mobile and console applications.
